How long have you been using Manga Studio?
A little over a year now I think. I started using it for laying out pages and now I do almost everything with it depending on the project.
How did you find out about Manga Studio?
Completely by accident! I was hunting around on the Internet while researching something. This was years ago. I remember seeing an ad and thinking I'd probably never use the computer to draw comics. I was dumb.
What software did you use before Manga Studio?
Nothing, really. Sometimes I used Photoshop for touchup and SketchUp for reference.
Where does Manga Studio fit into your workflow?
I mostly use Manga Studio, Photoshop and SketchUp. Sometimes I'll use Poser, but that's pretty much it. I do a sketch on a piece of paper and scan (or just draw in Manga Studio) then I'll finish them off in Manga Studio.
What was your first experience with it?
I used it to do layouts for DC's Trinity series.
What was your first impression of Manga Studio?
At first it was scary, but became natural very quickly. I was completely blown away with how natural and easy the pen tools are. I was in love from there on.
How did you like having dinner with Dave Gibbons?
It was awesome! I got to meet and talk to a modern master of comics and he didn't try to stab me in the eye with a fork! Seriously, it was big deal for me. He was very gracious and I learned a lot.
What is one of your favorite features of Manga Studio?
The inking tools and the texture brushes are my favorite tools.
If you could change one thing about Manga Studio, what would it be?
I would LOVE to be able to draw a straight line with a pen tool in the same way you can in Photoshop just by holding the shift key when you draw a line.
