Testimonials I have been using Manga Studio since March 26th 2010. I won a copy during the Dave Gibbons Webinar.

I first heard about it because it was advertised on Comic Book Resources, a website I check often. I was looking for some kind of software suited for making comics. Photoshop and Illustrator can do it but it's like using a kitchen knife to turn a screw. It's not the right tool for the job.

Before Manga Studio, I mainly used Photoshop and Illustrator. There are tons of other pieces of software I used before Manga Studio but those two would be my go-to choices to do comic book type illustration. Sometimes, I still use Photoshop to tweak the colors. I think Photoshop is a killer color tool.

My first experience with the software was when I tried to use the Manga Studio for Dummies book to learn Manga Studio Debut. Debut was a bit frustrating. I had some difficulty learning the software but the Dave Gibbons Webinar, Manga Studio for Dummies and the tutorials on the Manga Studio website eased my learning curve.

Manga Studio EX was a god-send. It did everything I needed it to do without getting in my way. It was also very important that the software allow me to work in my style rather than making my work look like Manga-ized. Manga Studio is as close as you can get to working with pen and brush without having to clean up afterward. I love the panel rulers and being able to just pick how many panels I want and being able to lay them out exactly the way I need them. I wish I could dock or collapse palettes in Manga Studio. I feel crowded by having too many palettes open sometimes.

I also paint primarily with Corel Painter. I am currently looking for a new permanent position as a commercial artist. I have been a print designer, package designer, motion graphics designer, and a web designer. Drawing comics has always been a dream of mine and I would love to make it my career. It's a hard nut to crack, though.

I think it would be nice if Manga Studio has a forum where people looking for work in comics could post their work and people looking to fill positions could post their openings. I would also love to do freelance work with Manga Studio if there was ever an opening for a visual artist or trainer.

You can find my art at my website and my Facebook page.
